The Future of Transportation

September 26, 2007

I remember when I was in Europe that I travelled on every mode of transportation possible. Plane, bus, train, car, bike, ship, and yes, good ol’two feet of mine. What completely impressed me was the train systems linking all over Europe. Fast, mostly on time, fastidious with their passenger checks and clean, I found it a dream to move around Europe without much problems. (Possibly helped that I was a girl, had a Singaporean passport and gave my biggest smile to everyone on the train so that I did not get myself into trouble anywhere). I loved my trip from Nykoping, Sweden to Copenhagen, Denmark. There was a short 5 hour direct express train but in the interest of saving money, I took a 3 change train which arrived in  9 hours.  I made a  lot of boo boos, like fumble around and get on the wrong carriage (i was nearly in tears knowing that the next train was in 5 hours, the train inspector calmed me down and let me travel 1st class!) and panic too much cos the trains were delayed, making me miss my connection (the lovely train conductor made an announcement to me over the PA system in the train to calm down and listed a couple of possible alternatives to take… haha!) I also completely enjoyed using my Eurail pass to seamlessly zip around Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France.

Another thing I noted about these railway systems is that the operators are looking to improve them consistently. I have watched programs on the french channel TV5 on improvements to the TGV system and the testing procedures they have for their trains to be consistently faster. So I read with great interest the latest trains to hit Munich and perhaps Europe in time to come. The maglev system that the trains work on make them faster than the usual electric trains. Eliminating friction… Awesome!

Yes I am a nerd some times. Skipped my EDA class today to chill at home. No more eyebags. Shal, if you remotely read this.. I love you loads. Thanks for listening to me yesterday!

Check out these websites. You’ll know what I mean.

Reversa Skin Cream

Alicia Silverstone for Peta

Do the adoring men suddenly make you believe in the effects in Reversa?

Does Alicia make you wanna be a vegetarian?

  1. The ‘Core’ Reason: A strong midsection helps your entire body function in everything you do from exercising to sitting at your desk at work.
  2. The ‘Disease Fighting’ Reason: Studies have shown that individuals with a large waistline (stomach obesity) have the highest chances of developing fatal diseases, like heart disease.
  3. The ‘Aches and Pains’ Reason: Your midsection can absorb stress and strain from the activities you do. Furthermore, strong abs can help put an end to back pain.
  4. The ‘Gotta Get Your Z’s’ Reason: Obesity, particularly abdominal and upper body obesity, is one of the most significant risk factors for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) – a condition that can cause a person to stop breathing for short periods of time during sleep.
  5. The ‘Aesthetic’ Reason: Let’s face it — Tight abs are hot.

Moving On

September 23, 2007

The walls of my memory divides the thorns from the roses…

When things have gone awry, its time to move on. If you tried to fix it and things don’t change for the better, maybe its time to wash your hands of it and think of something else.

Roshni, you can’t be a hero all the time. You tried and well, every one has their limits to tolerate. The best you can do is be civil and be there for her if she needs you.

Make new friends. Learn from your mistakes. Just don’t get hurt.

On another note, I read in a newspaper column yesterday that there are 3 ingredients to a successful relationship (BGR) or a marriage.

1. Good, mentally stimulating conversation

2. Comfortable with each other in public

3. Good sex or the sexual feeling

Seems quite right to me… The other things that you would want would be embedded somewhere in these 3, right? Something to chew on…

Mid Sem Dreams

September 20, 2007

I want to look hot and sexy with a tight tummy. I wanna get that tankini (not bikini, i still shy) I saw the other day. I wanna go lounge at the pool overlooking the sea, like I did in Bintan 2 years ago, with a long-island tea in my hand. I wanna feel the cool breeze on my neck as I watch the sunset.

Take me away.
